Brocéliande in spring and summer

 an enchanted forest

Broceliande in spring/summer

In spring, nature gradually awakens in Brocéliande… and the flower-filled walks offer the chance to relax and let nature take its course.

In summer, Brocéliande comes into its own and the majestic trees are adorned with thousands of leaves… Are you tempted?

Getting there

Are you ready to explore the Brocéliande forest and discover all its secrets? Let’s start with some useful information…

The Brocéliande forest, also known as the Paimpont forest, is vast: almost 12,000 hectares! So you’ll need much more than a day to wander around and discover its legendary sites. To get from one place to another, you’ll need your car, or consider hiring electric bikes or scooters!

Note also that the forest is privately owned and that 5,000 hectares to the south are inaccessible (this is the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan military field). To help you plan your walk, you’ll find a map of the forest on this page (also available free of charge from the Destination’s tourist offices ).

But above all, in Brocéliande, you’ ll need good shoes! Our enchanter knows no spell to cure sprained ankles.

A map is available to help you find places accessible to all.

There’s no better way to discover the forest than with a storytelling walk!

Our guides will tell you all the secrets and legends of our fabulous forest. Good humour and a breath of fresh air guaranteed! If you prefer to go it alone, you’ll be well prepared with your map and the forest access guide (on sale at tourist offices). Mind you, there are only a few information panels, but don’t you have to get a bit lost for the magic to really happen?

Recommendations for a respectful and peaceful walk

Finally, to keep our forest beautiful, take care of it! Here are a few rules of conduct to help you respect its biodiversity:

    • Camping and campfires (and even smoking) are not permitted in the forest or on the moor. Fires can happen so quickly! However, there are plenty of nice campsites nearby…
    • Remember to take your rubbish with you: the forest is a natural site, so please respect the environment and leave no trace of your visit.
    • Keep your pets on a lead: we wouldn’t want Medor to come face to face with a wild boar.
    • Hiking trails are closed to motorised vehicles.
    • Even if it’s tempting, stay on the marked paths to preserve the flora as much as possible, and take care.
    • When you go for a walk, always keep an eye on your watch as the forest is not accessible after 8pm.

Now that you know all that, hop, hop, hop, off you go! Put on your hiking boots, book a guided walk or drop into one of our tourist offices and take some pretty pictures!
